Development of Plastream.
The Plastream technology is the result of extensive research and development which commenced in mid-2001, with the product first commercialised in Australia in mid-2002.
The primary aim of Plastream was to significantly reduce pipe production costs. As the majority of these costs are taken up by raw materials, Plastream needed to be a highly material-efficient pipe that could be easily manufactured. In short: the next generation pipe technology. Extensive design and testing was therefore performed to ensure that the optimum steel and plastic configuration was obtained.
The development of Plastream has not stopped. The next aim is to broaden the diameter range and continue its competitive advantage as the lightest structural pipe. Smaller pipes will be developed in the future, including the 100 mm diameter necessary for competing in the sewer market. Larger diameters above 2250 mm may also be developed based on the market need for very large, stiff pipes.
